I served with Ian on HMS Portland and he was a larger than life character who was a phenomenal lad to be deployed with, for prolonged period of times.
Him dancing around the 42 Man Mess to a Stone Roses and Erasure mix up with a can of lager in his hand will be a sight that will never leave my memory. Nor him lying around in his dirty chef whites stinking of onions..
His ability to create a Football song out of an every day conversation, was a unique talent and one that I have never known anyone else possess. The one that sticks out to me who was the one about Julio Arca.
I will stop there with the stories although the memories will stay with me forever..
